When Enough is Enough

Chapter Eleven

“So Farrah, when do I get to meet the mystery man,” Trisha chimed.

“What are you talking about,” Farrah snorted.

“You really think nobody knows you are seeing someone. Girl please, it is written all over you,” Trisha laughed. “I bet it’s some cornball from school.”

“Whatever Trisha, worry about your own love life,” Farrah deflected.

“I think yours may be more interesting. You have been glowing something extra the last four months. What’s up with that?”

“There is nothing up. Can we talk about something else,” Farrah murmured.

“Trisha, leave your cousin alone. She looks all embarrassed. Farrah, if you got a man maybe you can help me,” Nancy, one of Trisha’s friends, chimed in to help Farrah out.

“I don’t know how much help I can be,” Farrah shrugged.

“I just want to know how to keep my man from looking at other girls when he has me,” Nancy sighed and laughed.

“Okay, I know I can’t help,” Farrah chuckled.

“You know who I wouldn’t mind getting to look at me?” Trisha’s friend, Dana chimed.

“Oh boy here we go,” Trisha rolled her eyes.

“J,” Dana sang, “he is fine as, I don’t know what. I would make him forget all about Tina. I mean come on already it’s been what, four years or more. He needs to get over it.”

“Dana, if you stop hanging in Kevin’s face maybe J would pay you some attention,” Nancy laughed.

“Please, I don’t even think Dana is anywhere near J’s type,” Trisha laughed. “But he is gorgeous. I know Farrah used to think so when she first moved here.”

“That’s funny, I was just thinking that she reminds me of Tina,” Nancy mused. “J was never into too many of the girls from the neighborhood before the whole Tina thing. J is different he likes his girls to be smart. T was really smart.”

“You knew Tina?” Farrah asked. She always wanted to know more about Tina and she was more than uncomfortable with talking about J or having him talked about.

“Yeah, Nancy and Tina were like best friends. Shoot you knew Tina, Farr. She was related to us,” Trisha said sadly. Farrah stopped to look at Trisha when she mentioned their relation to Tina. This was something she did not know, but she was not sure how to get into that without showing she knew too much about Tina and J.

“Tina was my girl. I knew J pretty well back then too. He worshipped the ground she walked on. Tina could never see it but I knew he was always in love with her. Everyone thought they were together all those years, but Tina was going to tell him how she felt the night she was killed. From the text she sent me she did but we never got to talk about the details.”

“That must have been hard for him,” Farrah said softly.

“Hard isn’t the word. J turned into someone else. But I think he is getting better. I haven’t noticed his car sitting in front of her building anymore. He
